The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) was established by Government to help the UK improve its record on recycling. It advises that “Good Practice Waste Minimisation and Management” will:

- reduce material and disposal costs through reduction in the materials ordered and waste taken to landfill
- increase competitive advantage through differentiation;
- respond to and pre-empt changes in public policy, such as increases in Landfill tax
